Prague has got to be one of my favorite cities I’ve visited so far for a lot of reasons, some of which I can’t really explain… It’s just a really cool place that’s so easy to enjoy.
Here’s 5 reasons why I loved it!
1. Amazing views and architecture
I usually have an image in my head of how I imagine a place to look, but when visiting it can be totally different.
Well Prague is just as magical and beautiful in reality as it is in the pictures.
I’m no expert when it comes to architecture, but seeing the beautiful buildings everywhere I looked was fantastic, and was especially magical at night.

Walking in to Old Town Square, especially at night, seeing the spires lit up and towering above the city is definitely a wow moment, and walking across Charles Bridge and up the hill in to the Lesser Town is like something from a fairy tale.

2. Not too big, not too small
Prague is definitely smaller than I expected – or at least the old town is anyway.
It’s plenty big enough that you can get lost in the winding streets and discover something new for days, but small enough to easily find your way back to the beaten track or to a Metro without having to walk for miles.
Although using the public transport in Prague is really cheap, if your hotel is in the city centre you could probably get away with using it very little. The main attractions in the city centre are quite close to each other and they’re mostly all within walking distance.

3. Friendly and welcoming
We found that Prague had a very warm and welcoming vibe, and despite the reputation of “lads weekend” type crowds (urgh) all of the locals we encountered seemed very happy to have tourists visit.
The city seems more geared towards tourism than many European cities.
4. It’s affordable
A lot of blogs and travel sites warned that Prague isn’t as cheap as it once was, but we certainly didn’t find it as pricey as we were expecting.
Compared to other cities we visited on the same trip (Vienna for example), Prague was generally quite affordable.
5. Easy to get around and see everything
The Metro system is quite small compared to other cities, and the trams aren’t bad either, so navigating isn’t too difficult.
If you use Google Maps to find your way around in Prague, it will even let you know which tram/metro to catch, where it leaves from and how long you have to wait.
I hope you’ve enjoyed my top 5 reasons why I loved Prague – writing this has made me so eager to go back!
