I absolutely love Paris, and getting there by train really is the best way to do it.
I’m always on the lookout for cheap Eurostar tickets from London to Paris, meaning I’ve picked up a few tricks to find the best deals over the years.
Here are the best ways I’ve found to get cheap Eurostar tickets.
Book early
Ok so this one seems obvious..
Like tickets for most things, Eurostar tickets get more expensive when demand is higher.
You can get cheap Eurostar tickets by searching for dates as far in advance as you can, and by avoiding school and public holidays.
Most Eurostar tickets go on sale six months before departure so keep remember this when planning your trip and try to get your tickets booked early.
Aim to travel on certain days & times
Most travellers tend to aim for those long weekend breaks, so avoiding traveling at the start and end of these days could save you money.
According to The Man in Seat 61, the cheapest Eurostar tickets tend to be available between midday on Mondays and midnight on Thursdays, and between midday and midnight on Saturdays.
Use Nectar points to book Eurostar tickets
If you have a collection of Nectar points, these can be spent on Eurostar tickets.
At the time of writing, 2,000 Nectar points can be exchanged for £10 of Eurostar credit.
7,000 points for example is worth £35 with. Eurostar, and 10,000 is worth £50.
Other loyalty schemes, Tesco Clubcard for example, also periodically offer points exchanges with Eurostar, so keep your eyes peeled!
Claim cashback on your tickets
Check online to see if cashback websites (like Quidco or TopCashback) are running any offers to earn money back on your spending with Eurostar before booking your tickets online.
All you’d need to do is click on their link to the Eurostar website, then make your booking as normal, to earn the cash back. The cash back is usually available to claim after a couple of months.
Join the Eurostar loyalty scheme
With Eurostar’s loyalty scheme, Club Eurostar, customers earn one point for every £1 spent.
It’s worth signing up to the scheme before you book to start earning points which could be redeemed/spent at a later date.
Check all your options
There are a few Eurostar secrets that could save you money;
- Children four years old or younger can travel with Eurostar for free if they don’t need their own seat.
- Look for discounted prices for children under 12.
- There is a discount for someone accompanying a wheelchair user, who is travelling in Standard Premier or Business Premier class.
Be careful with your mobile data if you’re traveling to the UK from abroad
Data roaming (using your mobile from abroad) in the UK can be very expensive..
I would recommend buying a cheap pay as you go SIM from Giffgaff and using that when you’re here if you’re coming over from abroad – just order and activate your free SIM, and then when you’re ready to come to the UK purchase a cheap £12 goody bag which will give you all the data you’ll need for a month. You can order a SIM using my referral link and get £5 free credit.

Thanks for this information. If I want to order the giffgaff will they send it to where I live or do I pick it up in London. Thanks
