Vintage train from Sóller to Palma – Riding the Orange Express in Mallorca

The Sóller to Palma train ride on the Orange Express is a great day out, and offers one of the more different things to do in Mallorca.

There are a few different train rides in Mallorca – this historic electric trains run between the little town of Sóller, through trees, mountains and tunnels, right down to the centre of Palma down on the south coast of the island.

Located just behind the main train station in Sóller, there’s a smaller road-side tram stop where you can catch a historic tram will take you down the hill and in the the busy centre of Port De Sóller. (more on that later in the article!)

Your journey on the Orange Express will take you through the beautiful countryside of Mallorca, past several small Spanish towns and villages, and in to the forests high in the mountains.

If you don’t want to travel all the way to Palma, you can get off at one of the smaller stations part way down the line, Bunyola being one of them.

During your journey you’ll also pass over several bridges and through some long tunnels as you pass through the mountains.

The final station on the Orange Express route is the capitol city of Palma de Mallorca, at the main train station in the centre of the city.

Take the tram from Sóller to Port De Sóller

Once you return from Palma after your journey on the Orange Train, why not head in to Port De Sóller for the evening?

As you can see, Sóller and the Port town aren’t within easy walking distance, but there’s a tram that will take you down the hill and right around the bay of Port De Sóller in 25 minutes, 7€ per person each way.

The tram trundles down the hill from the old town of Sóller in to the busy beach resort town of Port De Sóller.
